If a car travels miles per hour for hours and then miles per hour for hour, it travels miles.

  1. Sketch a graph of velocity vs. time, being sure to label the axes.

  2. Copy and complete the table below for the distance traveled as a function of time.

    Pay attention to the fact that after hours, the velocity decreases.

  3. Graph the distance vs. time function by using the data from the table. Be sure to label the axes.

  4. Express the distance as a piecewise-defined function.
