4-58.

Solve each of the following equations.

1. $3(x-2)-2(x+7)=2x+17$

This is a linear equation. Distribute and solve for $x$.

1. $x^2+3x-10=0$

This is a quadratic equation. Factor and use the Zero Product Property or use the Quadratic Formula.

1. $x^2-7x=-12$

Set the equation equal to $0$. Then factor and use the Zero Product Property.

1. $x^3+x^2=6x$

Move all of the variables to the left side and factor out an $x$ first. Then factor the remaining trinomial.
