Use graph paper to complete the following problems.

If you are still unsure how to sketch the vectors in parts (a) and (b), review the selected answers located at the back of your text book or in the Reference, Student Support section of your eBook.

1. Draw $\vec { \text{a} }= 2\textbf{i} + 3\textbf{j}$ , $\vec { \text{b} }= \textbf{i} – \textbf{j}$, and $\vec {\text{c}}= –3\textbf{i} + 2\textbf{j}$.

2. Draw $\vec { \text{a} }+ \vec{\text{b}}$ on the graph paper.

3. Write $\vec { \text{a} }+ \vec{\text{b}}$ in $\bf\text{i, j}$ form.

$2\textbf{i}+3\textbf{j}+\textbf{i}−\textbf{j}$

4. Write $\vec { \text{b} }+ \vec{\text{c}}$ and $\vec { \text{c} } – \vec{\text{a}}$ in $\bf\text{i, j}$ form without drawing them.

$\text{b}+\text{c}=\textbf{i}−\textbf{j}+(−3\textbf{i}+2\textbf{j})$
$\text{c}−\text{a}=−3\textbf{i}+2\textbf{j}−(2\textbf{i}+3\textbf{j})$
