4-119.

A parabola has vertex (2, 3) and contains the point (0, 0). 4-119 HW eTool (Desmos). Homework Help ✎

If this parabola is a function, find its equation.

Suppose this parabola is not a function, but is a “sleeping” parabola. Find its equation.

Use the equation *y* = *a*(*x* − *h*)^{2} + *k*; if (*h*, *k*) = (2, 3); at (0, 0).

0 = *a*(0 − 2)^{2} + 3

−3 = *a*(4)

Use the equation *x* = *b*(*y* − *k*)^{2} + *h*; if (*h*, *k*) = (2, 3); at (0, 0).

Use the eTool below to graph the equations.
