Determine if each pair of triangles below are congruent, similar but not congruent, or if they are neither. If they are congruent, organize your reasoning into a flowchart. Remember that the triangles below not be drawn to scale.  

Use the triangle congruence conditions explained in the Math Notes box in Lesson 6.1.4.

  1. Triangle A, B, C and triangle D, E, F. Angle B is 120 degrees and angle C is 35 degrees. Angle E is 120 degrees and angle F is 35 degrees.

  1. Triangle M, N, O and triangle P, Q, R. Side N, O is 2 and side Q, R is 2. Angle O is 80 degrees and angle M is 15 degrees. Angle P is 15 degrees and angle Q is 80 degrees.

  1. Triangle G, H, I, and triangle J, K, L. Side H, I is 8 and side G, I is 5. Angle I is 62 degrees. Side J, K is 5 and side J, L is 8. Angle K is 62 degrees.

    For the two triangles to be congruent, they should look like the diagram shown below. Is this triangle possible? If the triangles are not congruent, is it possible for them to be similar?

    A triangle with two side lengths of 5 and 8 and a 62 degree angle opposite the side, 8 and a 62 degree angle opposite the unknown side.
