$x=-\frac{3}{51}\approx -0.059$

$\frac { x - 2 } { 5 } = \frac { 10 - x } { 8 }$
Hint (b):
What can you multiply both sides of the equation by to eliminate the denominators?
Answer (b):
$x=\frac{66}{13}\approx 5.08$
