10-114.

You are given a bag that you are told contains eight marbles. You draw out a marble, record its color, and put it back.

1. If you repeat this eight times and you do not record any red marbles, can you conclude that there are not any red marbles in the bag? Explain.

Are the outcomes independent or dependent?

No. Since the marble is put back after each draw, the outcome of each draw is independent of the outcome of other draws.

2. If you repeat this $100$ times and you do not record any red marbles, can you conclude that there are not any red marbles in the bag? Explain.

See part (a).

3. How many times do you have to draw marbles (putting them back each time) to be absolutely certain that there are no red marbles in the bag?

See part (a).
