4-6.

Sketch $y=x^2$, $y=−3x^2$, and $y=−0.25x^2$ on the same set of axes. What does a negative coefficient do to the graph?

Make tables for each equation. Use an equal number of positive and negative values in your tables. Remember to use the Order of Operations and square first before multiplying by the negative coefficient.

The negative coefficient causes parabolas to open downward.

Use the eTool below to view the graphs of the equations.
