Rewrite each of the expressions below. Avoid leaving negative exponents in your solution.

1. $( \frac { 2 x } { y ^ { 2 } } ) ^ { 2 }$

Multiply.

$( \frac { 2 x } { y ^ { 2 } } ) ( \frac { 2 x } { y ^ { 2 } } )$

$\frac { 4 x ^ { 2 } } { y ^ { 4 } }$

1. $\left(6x^{3}\right)\left(3x^{−1}y\right)$

Eliminate the negative exponents.

$\left. \begin{array} { c } { ( 6 x ^ { 3 } ) ( \frac { 3 y } { x } ) } \\ { \frac { 18 x ^ { 3 } y } { x } } \end{array} \right.$

Reduce by looking for factors in the numerator and denominator that make one.

$18x^{2}y$

1. $\frac { ( x y ) ^ { - 1 } } { ( x ^ { 2 } y ^ { 3 } ) ^ { - 1 } }$

Eliminate the negative exponents.

$\frac { x ^ { 2 } y ^ { 3 } } { x y }$

Reduce by looking for factors in the numerator and denominator that make one.

$xy^{2}$
