7-39.

Solve each of the following equations.

Note: Some steps may be done differently.
Be sure to check you answers by substituting them into the original equations.

1. $2x + 8 = 3x − 4$

Subtract $2x$ from both sides.

$8 = x − 4$

Add $4$ to both sides.

$12 = x$

Verify that $2\left(12\right) + 8 = 3\left(12\right) − 4$

1. $1.5\left(w + 2\right) = 3 + 2w$

Use the Distributive Property.

$1.5w + 3 = 3 + 2w$

Subtract $1.5x$ from both sides.

Subtract $3$ from both sides.

Divide both sides by $0.5$.

$w = 0$

1. $8(x+6)+23=7$
1. $3(2x−7)=5x+17+x$
