Match each table of data on the left with its equation on the right and briefly explain why it matches the data.

Notice what the difference is between each of the $x$- and $y$-values.

$y=x+3$

2.  $\boldsymbol{x}$ $\boldsymbol{y}$ $-1$ $3$ $1$ $0$ $-2$ $2$ $-1$ $-9$ $-1$ $0$ $-4$ $-4$

Notice all $y$-values (besides zero) are negative.

3.  $\boldsymbol{x}$ $\boldsymbol{y}$ $3$ $-2$ $1$ $0$ $2$ $-3$ $12$ $7$ $4$ $3$ $7$ $12$

Notice that $y$ does not increase in constant increments. Also notice $3$ and $−3$ give the same $y$-value.

$y=3x−1$

(1)  $y=x$

(2) $y=3x−1$
