12-16.

A solid with volume $820 \; \text{cm}^3$ is reduced proportionally with a linear scale factor of $\frac { 1 } { 2 }$. What is the volume of the result?

The ratio of the volumes will be the cube of the linear scale factor.

$\left(\frac{1}{2}\right)^3 \cdot 820\ =\ \frac{1}{8} \cdot 820\ =\ 102.5 \; \text{cm}^3$
