9-11.

Solve each system of equations below. Write your solution in the form $(x, y)$. Check your solution.

1. \begin{aligned}[t] 3x - y = 14\\ x = 2y + 8 \; \; \end{aligned}

Use substitution to solve for both variables.

$\left(4,-2\right)$

1. \begin{aligned}[t] x = 2y + 2 \; \; \;\\ x = -y -10 \end{aligned}

Set the two equations equal to each other.

1. \begin{aligned}[t] 16x - y = -4\\ 2x + y = 13 \; \; \, \end{aligned}

Use elimination to solve for the two variables.

$\left(\frac{1}{2},12\right)$
