Dante went to the grocery store and bought a five-pound bag of oranges and $40$ ounces of cheese. How much do his groceries weigh? (Note that there are $16$ ounces in a pound.)

Start by changing the weight of the oranges to ounces.
$5$ pounds $· 16$ ounces per pound $= 80$ ounces

$120$ ounces or $7.5$ pounds

Add the weight of the oranges to the weight of the cheese.
$80$ ounces $+ 40$ ounces $= 120$ ounces
