Express each of the following lengths in feet.

Remember that inches are equal to foot and feet are equal to yard. These conversions will come in handy!

  1.   inches

  1.   inches

  1.   inches

  1.   yards

  1.   inches

  1.   yards

Try drawing a diagram of how many inches are in a foot to compare to each of these measures.

For instance, James converted inches to feet by drawing the diagram at right. He could see that there are groups of inches in inches, so that means inches is equal to feet!

If one yard is feet, how many feet are in yards? Can you use multiplication? Why would that make sense?

Don't forget to show your work.

Use your answer from part (d), as well as the hint provided to help you through this problem.

A bar is divided into 36 equal parts with the top 12 shaded purple, the middle 12 shaded green, and the bottom 12 shaded orange.
