The shape at right is composed of a rectangle and a semi-circle (half of a circle).  

A doorway arch, bottom labeled, 11 meters, vertical part of the right side, labeled 9 meters.

  1. Find the perimeter.

    A line is drawn, across the top of the rectangular part, of the arch, with a point in the center. The portion, from the point to the right edge, is labeled 5.5 meters.

    The perimeter of a semi-circle is half of the circumference of a circle.

    If the semi-circle were made into a complete circle, its circumference would be .

  2. Find the area.

    Find the area of the semi-circle and the area of the rectangle separately, then add them together to find the total area.
