Use a number line to show the distance between the two given integers. Plot each integer as a point on the number line, and then find the distance between the two points. Write each situation as a subtraction problem using absolute value symbols.

$7$ and $4$
Hint (a):
Move the two points on the number line to the integers given in this problem.
How can you find the distance between them?
Answer (a):
$\left|7-4\right|=3$

$5$ and $-2$
Hint (b):
Use the same process as part (a).

$-1$ and $-3$
Hint (c):
This time the numbers are both on the same side of zero. But you can still use a similar process as in parts (a) and (b).
