Nicole has a machine that will produce a number from $1$ through $50$ when she pushes a button. Explore by highlighting numbers on the 2-11 HW eTool (CPM). If she pushes the button, what is: Homework Help ✎

Remember the formula for probability of an event: $\large \frac{\text{number of successful outcomes}}{\text{number of possible outcomes}}$

1. $\text{P}\left(\text{multiple of}\ 10\right)$?

How many multiples of ten are there from $1$ to $50$? How many possible outcomes are there?

$\frac{1}{10}$

1. $\text{P}\left(\text{not}\ 100\right)$?

How many numbers are there from $1$ to $50$ that are not $100$? Don't be surprised if your answer is not a fraction less than $1$.

$1$

1. $\text{P}\left(\text{not a multiple of}\ 4\right)$?

How many multiples of $4$ are there from $1$ to $50$?

$\frac{38}{50}$

1. $\text{P}\left(\text{one-digit number}\right)$?

How many one-digit numbers are there from $1$ to $50$?

$\frac{9}{50}$
