2-60.

Use substitution to find $y$.

Wherever $x$ occurs in the problem, write the given number instead.

1. $y=3+8.5x$, when $x=-4$

Remember to include the negative sign when you substitute for x.

$-31$

1. $y=x-15$, when $x=2.65$

What is $15$ subtracted from $2.65$?

1. $y=(x-5)(x+2)$, when $x=3$

Simplify the expression inside the parentheses before multiplying.

1. $y+6.2x=-13$, when $x=-4$

$y+6.2(-4)=-13$

$y+(-24.8)=-13$

$y-24.8=-13$

$y = 11.8$
