Solve for $x$.

1. $\frac { x } { 2 } + \frac { x } { 5 } = 1$

Multiply each side by a common multiple of the denominators in order to eliminate all fractions.

$5x+2x=10$

Combine like terms.

$7x=10$

$x = \frac{10}{7}$

1. $\frac { x } { 3 } + \frac { x - 1 } { 4 } = 2 + x$

Follow the steps in part (a).

$x=-\frac{27}{5}$
