Solve each equation below for $x$. Check your solution.

1. $\frac { 3 x } { 4 } - 2 ( 4 + 2 x ) = - \frac { 1 } { 2 } x + \frac { 1 } { 4 }$

Multiply $(4+2x)$ by $−2$.
Then, multiply everything by $4$ to get rid of the fractions.
$3x−32−16x=−2x+1$

Combine like terms: $−11x=33$

$x=−3$

1. $\frac { - 5 } { 3 } x + \frac { 2 } { 5 } - \frac { 1 } { 3 } x + 1 = 0$

Multiply everything by $15$ to remove the fractions.
